
Arhar or Toor Dal (Pigeon Peas) अरहर या तूर दाल – Arhar dal is also called toor dal rhar dal. Minerals, carbohydrates, iron, calcium, etc. are found in sufficient quantity in it. This is an easily digestible pulse, hence it can be given to the patient, but the patients suffering from gas, constipation, and respiratory problems should consume it less. Arhar dal(रहर-तुवर दाल) is one of the most commonly used pulses. It is used in popular dishes like Sambhar of South India, Gujarati Dal, the famous Puran Poli, and many more. Arhar dal is widely included in the diet. Apart from being delicious, this lentil is also a good source of protein. But, it is said that anything in excess is harmful for health, Toovar dal is thick and meaty and cooks faster than moong dal or masoor dal. Pigeon pea is a crop rich in unique qualities. It is used more as a pulse as compared to other legume crops and When pulses are taken out from its pods then it is called Tur (Khari Tur). When it is milled (processed) and made into dal, then it is called tuvar or arhar dal.
